If you owned a Hewlett Packard printer between March 1, 2015 through December 31, 2017, and got an error when trying to use non-HP ink, then file a claim right now! In other words, you can claim $100 to $150. However, payments will vary based on the number of valid claims and actual out-of-pocket expenses.
The HP class action settlement was reached after consumers accused the tech company of installing HP firmware, called “Dynamic Security,” on certain printers that made it impossible to use any other brand of printer ink.
According to the class action lawsuit, Dynamic Security caused HP printers to display a fake error messages when non-HP printer ink cartridges were used — causing consumers to think that the ink cartridges were faulty. The HP firmware allegedly affected thousands of (~ 30,000) Class Members.
