The Ziegenfelder Company of Wheeling, West Virginia, has issued a voluntary recall of popsicles due to Listeria contamination! Approximately 3,000 cases of Budget $aver Cherry Pineapple Monster Pops and Sugar-Free Twin Pops because of the possibility that these products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria can cause infections with side effects such as fever, nausea and abdominal pain.
There have been no reports of illness related to this recall.
These ice pops were sold at Walmart and other retailers in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Maine, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. The Ice Pops were delivered during a 15-day period from April 5 through April 19, 2018.
The products in this recall will have the following UPC and lot numbers.
- The Cherry Pineapple Monster Pops will have the UPC code 0-74534-84200-9, and have lot codes D09418A through D10018B.
- The Sugar-Free Pops will have the UPC code 0-74534-75642-9, and have lot codes D09318A through D10018B
