Sweet Tea’s Old South Candle Company – Review and Giveaway
The nice ladies at Sweet Tea’s Old South Candle Company sent me a few candles to review and tell you about. Since I wasn’t sure what to order, they chose for me after I told them I like breezy, fresh scents like crisp linens. Although around the holidays I can’t get enough toasty scents such as cinnamon apple and cozy fireside.
They sent me Apple and Maple Bourbon, and Sun Washed Denim. I wish there was a scratch ‘n sniff plug-in for WordPress because you really have to smell these to believe it. They smell so incredible I almost want to grab a spoon! The tins normally cost $5.50 each and have a burn life of up to 35 hours (their big candles burn up to 160 hours!!) They also have tarts and warmers, and so much more! Through the end of April, you can get a free tin with qualifying purchase of a jar candle.
Sweet Tea’s Old South Candle Company is run by two very sweet ladies who live in the south, and apparently they recognized that it smells really good there because the South is their inspiration. They hand pour each candle, fresh after you order it. They use natural soy (if you don’t know the benefits of soy candles, you really need to visit their website!) and downhome goodness to make these candles a cut above the rest. I’m not sure how they do it, but they’ve really captured the essence (and yumminess!) of the South.
I spent two weeks in Texas last month. There’s nowhere quite like it. My Texas family – which includes many that have nothing to do with being related to one another – know a thing or two about what’s important in life. I was there, not by choice, but because my father-in-law was very ill and passed away. We sure didn’t expect that to happen, but thankfully we were able to be there with him for a while before he left us. Among other things, he always reminded me to take care of myself and not be in such a hurry that I miss everything around me. There’s nothing like time with family; it’s time you cherish. Time you wish you could have more of. Time you’d do anything to get back.
Scent is a powerful thing for me. I have a tub of my grandparents keepsakes, and when I open it I’m almost overwhelmed by the smell because it reminds me immediately of them. It also reminds me of simpler times, of loved ones and the core values they taught that make me who I am. And it reminds me that I must be okay for someone so awesome to have thought so. I’ve often said, if someone could bottle that, they’d be rich! Who wouldn’t want that?
Well, here’s your chance to walk down memory lane. Even if you grew up in the big city, these scents are sure to remind you of someone or something that brings a smile to your face and some warmth to your heart.
Remember the scents of growing up in the deep South? Maple pecan griddle cakes, saltwater taffee, orange groves in full bloom and sweet night blooming jasmine? The smell of a smokehouse woodfire on a cool autumn day, or maybe wild guava butter on buttermilk biscuits? Remember the smell of a summer storm, hayrides in the fall, sitting around a campfire telling tales and toasting marshmallows, and chasing fireflies into the dusky hours of the evening? And remember all the scents that bring your mind right back to a place called “Home”…mulled apple cider, fresh baked bread straight from the oven, pecan pie, and a jug of sweet tea…Let us take you there again…our Southern scented hand-crafted all natural SOY candles will bring you back to a simpler time…Sweet Tea’s offers tins, jars, votives, and simmering tarts that smell so delightful you can almost taste them!
