Space Race Animated Series – Review and Giveaway

The cute little airplane pictured above, Eagle Wingstrong, sent us a wonderful full-color solar system poster to let us know about his new animated web series:  Space Race. Okay, maybe it wasn’t the airplane who sent it. He’s probably too busy anyway. Regardless, Space Race Kids, the web series, wants to give one lucky Gimmie fan a poster of their own!

This beautiful poster is 18″ x 24″ and is a great addition to any kids’ room or classroom!! It lists our solar system’s planets by name and order from the sun.  You can see the poster to the right, or by clicking here.

Space Race, the web series

Space Race Kids is a fully animated, action-packed web series that teaches about space and includes lots of space travel and racing — entertaining and kid/parent friendly too.  The series is directed by Emmy award winner, Mark Risley. You may know him from his work on Rugrats, The Wild Thornberrys and As Told by Ginger. The animation and characters are reminiscent of the movie Cars by Pixar.

Not only is it entertaining, it’s educational. They teach about the solar system and planets (and the moon!) in eight different episodes that range in length from about 4-5 minutes each.

I hate to admit, but my daughter would much rather watch cartoons than something educational.  I have a few DVDs I spent way too much on to help her learn various things. She begs not to watch them because she says they’re boring, no matter how fun and colorful they may seem to me!  Space Race Kids is able to somehow sneak education in without my child noticing. She loves it and wants to watch it repeatedly. Repetition is a great way to learn, too. For example, I know that the Earth has a core, mantle and crust. Something I probably knew when I was Smarter than a 5th Grader, but frankly it’s been a long time.   There’s so much to learn, why not give your kids some free tools that they’ll really enjoy!?

In addition to the animated web series Space Race Kids has games, trivia, a “which Space Race character are you,” flashcards, worksheets, printable coloring pages, a movie trailer and free ecards.
