There is a recall on pre-sliced melons! If you live in Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, or Ohio and purchased fresh cut watermelon, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, or fresh-cut fruit medley products that were produced at the Caito Foods facility in Indianapolis, Indiana, do not consume these products! There is a multi-state outbreak of salmonella linked to these pre-sliced melons. There have been 60 people infected with the outbreak strain and 31 people have been hospitalized. No deaths have been reported.
The recalled products were sold in clear, plastic clamshell containers at Costco, Jay C, Kroger, Payless, Owen’s, Sprouts, Trader Joe’s, Walgreens, Walmart, and Whole Foods/Amazon. If you have any pre-sliced melon and do not know where you purchased it, do not consume. CDC urges you to throw out any of these products.
