The folks at PITSTOP underarm stain remover sent me a sample of their product to review and tell you about.  First of all, I can’t even look at this product without saying “PEET STOP!!” like the little guy on the movie Cars. Ha! How’s that for an easy way to remember a product’s name?  You can also see Pitstop in the March issue of Shape Magazine!!

So, this is kind of a weird thing to review.  Who wants to talk about armpit stains?  Sheesh!  But the truth is, and we all know – it happens.  I’m laying full blame on guys in my household for needing a product like this.  And, that’s the story I’m sticking with.

In the past, shirts that have underarm stains get tossed in the rag bin, pushed to the back of the closet, donated (ew!), put in the “work outside” pile, or who knows what else. Basically, an armpit stain ruins an otherwise decent shirt. I’m sure there are home remedies to remove them, but frankly I’ve never had much success.  I can get the smell out with baking soda – that works great. But the stain doesn’t go away.  You can bleach it if it’s white, but bleaching makes the shirt fall apart.  By the way, if you use bleach you’ll forever set the stain and even this product won’t get it out.  So, don’t use bleach! Color-safe bleach just doesn’t remove the yellow stain.

So, again, an armpit stain is enough to ruin a perfectly good shirt.

I have to admit something before I continue. I really didn’t think PITSTOP underarm stain remover would work. To give it a real challenge, I got the CRUSTIEST, yuckiest, yellowest stain I could find. Not necessarily an easy test we’re talking about here.  They suggested saturating the stain and using a brush for really bad stains.  I didn’t use a brush the first time, I just saturated it and let it sit for about 20 minutes (as directed) before putting into the washing machine.  The results?  About half of the stain was gone. Like, eaten away, leaving only a clean shirt! While the entire stain didn’t magically disappear, I have to say I was impressed. This was a REALLY bad stain.  So, I tried it again and used a brush. And, I tried it on a few shirts that weren’t nearly as bad.  I’m here to tell you, this stuff DOES remove an armpit stain!! The really bad stains do need some extra attention. But how amazing that it actually will remove the stain!?

In summary, PITSTOP underarm stain remover works to remove armpit stains from clothes. Really bad stains are harder to get out, but it will do the job if you work at it.  Regular stains that aren’t set in come out in one application. I’m so glad I tried this product!
