Nationwide Recall of Gift Baskets for Possible Heath Risk!
The Food and Drug Administration has announced a recall of gift baskets, sold at four major stores: TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, Sam’s Club and Costco stores nationwide.
Gift baskets which contain Blue Cheese Savory Twists snacks have been recalled. The FDA found traces of Salmonella at the manufacturing facility of the ingredient supplier for the powdered buttermilk used in this product.
Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
What to do: Do not consume this product. If you have any 7 oz Blue Cheese Savory Twists remaining, please discard them; do not consume. If you gave the product to someone, please let them know to discard the product. This is a voluntary recall as a precautionary measure.
For the full list of products affected, see the company announcement on the FDA’s website.
