JUMBiES – Review and Giveaways

The folks at JUMBiES sent us a few of their cute plushies to review and tell you about. And, they’ve offered to give Gimmie fans the chance to win their own!  We’re doing this giveaway a little differently. There will be one Grand Prize here, and we’ll be doing Flash Giveaways for a JUMBiES toy every day and night this week on Facebook!  Find all the details in Giveaway section below.

I’ll elaborate on the giveaways in a minute, but first I wanted to say my daughter absolutely LOVES her JUMBiES!  She received Horsefly, SeaLion, Pigbit and Zelephant. They came with “JUMBiES Sand Dollars” which are a pog-like collector’s item and each of the JUMBiES has one.  Her friends were also thrilled to get sets of JUMBiES Sand Dollars of their own.  Also included were cute storybooks telling the story of how JUMBiES came to be.  An adorable animated version is also available on their website JUMBiELAND.com.

Background: Basically, the overworked storks got so overwhelmed that they crashed into one another and all the babies were jumbled, resulting in JUMBiES – combinations of real animals that result in cute, clever and funny little pets for your child.

Then they quickly went to see if the babies were okay. The babies were fine but the storks did not know what to say. When the storks crashed and tumbled, it appeared all the animal babies were jumbled! The storks could not believe their eyes. These babies were quite a surprise. They still looked very lovable and sweet. But they were very different from their head to their feet.

I’m no child psychologist, but I believe there’s a valuable lesson in teaching your kids that being different is okay.  From color of eyes, hair or skin to special needs or physical limitations – differences make us who we are, make us special and make us human. Difference doesn’t mean lesser or a bad thing, it’s just that we’re not exactly the same.  But then, who is 100% exactly the same? Accepting differences makes us diverse, it teaches us and stretches what would otherwise be limited views. It makes us smarter, happier people to accept others as they accept us for our own differences.

JUMBiES remind me of the extremely popular Beanie Babies – just as cute but much more unique. These little critters have collector potential, but more importantly your kids will love them.  My daughter is very good at identifying animals, and this has helped her learn to think beyond “oh yeah, that’s a zebra” to put together why a zebra + an elephant makes a Zelephant. She loves this hybrid math, and it’s so fun to watch her figure it all out.
