Here’s my history with ‘Flix. I have to warn you. I’m about to tell you about how I didn’t like Netflix, and how I don’t sign up for free trials. At the end of this post you’ll see what a liar I am.

Rarely do I sign up for free trials. I mean it, I know myself and I know I will forget to cancel. I don’t promote free trials either, because of the aforementioned forgetfulness that I believe we all possess when it comes to things like this.

But then I saw the Free Netflix trial.  I did Netflix years ago, way before they had streaming online videos. I didn’t like it. (I’m not doing very well promoting this so far, am I? )  I didn’t like that you had to watch the movies and return them, then they’d send more. Why?  To me, it was like having a treadmill in my bedroom. There it sits, taking up valuable real estate, weighing heavy on my conscience, making me feel guilty if I didn’t use it.  After all, the price isn’t bad as long as you use it. But, it was always a race to watch the movies and return them so I could get another. Otherwise, it wasn’t a great deal. I was wasting money and time. Yes, I have issues. Thankfully it’s not like that anymore. they now have an option to do only online streaming and not send disks back and forth.

What is online streaming?  For me, having as many videos as I wanted at my fingertips with no disks to return, would alleviate my negative obsession with Netflix. One question I’ve heard asked is, “Does it get stuck while “downloading” like movies on YouTube?”  The short answer is: no, it doesn’t get stuck downloading.  With few exceptions that may indicate a problem, the movies play as if they were coming straight from a set-top DVD player.

How do you watch it?  If you have a nifty new Blu Ray Surround Sound or even a newer television like I got recently, they might be equipped to receive Netflix automatically!  Wii, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 are also Netflix-ready. And, so is Apple TV.  And, so are most smart phones!  Or, you can log onto Netflix.com and play movies right on your computer.  If you have a laptop, or a long cord <grin>, you can hook it directly to your television to play the movies! Basically, if you have a television, or a computer, or a cell phone — you can get Netflix.

Save money! I much prefer Netflix to paying $10-$15 a month per movie channel on cable or satellite!  It’s cheaper, and better because you can choose what you want to watch, when you want to watch it, and start the movie when you’re ready!  I’ve missed more first-halves of movies than I care to remember!

As I was saying, I signed up for Netflix earlier this year with their free trial. My family absolutely loves it!  There’s something for everyone – from grown ups to my 5 year old (who knows how to maneuver around Netflix better than I do!)  All her favorite shows are on it, and we’re all very satisfied with the selections of movies and t.v. shows. I didn’t forget to cancel after a month, I didn’t WANT to cancel.  But, you can cancel whenever you want, if you want. If it’s within 30 days you pay nothing.
