Gimmie Giveaways! Win your freebies!
Types of Giveaways
First of all, the Giveaways we share are either sponsored by us (we provide the prizes), or they’re sponsored by other companies (another company provides the prizes). Everything we share is 100% legitimate.
For example, we share an Amazon Giveaway, also known as Bouncy Boxes. Those are usually sponsored by someone else, although we’ve sponsored a few! Some people ask if bouncy boxes are a scam, because they’ve never won one. They’re absolutely not a scam. As a matter of fact, if you want to sponsor an Amazon Giveaway, you have to pay for the prize up front and Amazon handles the rest. There’s literally no way you can scam the system.
There’s nothing quite as exciting as winning a great prize. Free Giveaways tend to give much better freebies than traditional free stuff & free samples.
There are two types: Sweepstakes winners are chosen randomly. Contest winners are chosen by merit, such as submitting the best tasting recipe. And giveaways is just a term used to describe something being given away. Some might even say a free sample being given away is one. So, it can get confusing.
Entering blog contest or amazon giveaway actually gives you much better odds of winning than buying a lottery ticket. Why? Because there are way fewer entries. That means your chances of winning are much higher!
Also noteworthy, all sweepstakes and contests have a designated entry period. That means there’s a start date, and and end date. You must enter while the entry period is open in order to be eligible to win the prizes.
Due to state and federal laws, every legitimate sweepstakes or contest has a lengthy legal document called its Official Rules. The Rules explain all of the legalities and ensures the laws have been followed in setting up, administering and fulfilling prizes. Likewise, companies such as Rafflecopter Giveaways and Gleam Giveaways act as an administer to receive entries and ensure rules and laws are followed.
Where are all the winners? Is this really legit?
Every legal sweepstakes or contest has its official rules. So, find out how to receive the winners’ list in the official rules, usually toward the end. Sometimes it may involve mailing a self-addressed stamped envelope to a specific address. They will then mail back a list of winners. Other times you need to go to a website where winners are listed, after the entry period is over and winners have been chosen.
Do I have to pay for prizes?
Absolutely not! If someone told you that you won a huge prize, and you have to pay up front to receive it, they are lying! Prizes valued at more than $600 will require forms to file with your taxes. And, you may be asked to sign affidavits, proving your identity as required by law.
Even more ways to keep you safe; learn how to never again fall for sweepstakes scams.
