Chef’s Requested gave me some of their steak to try and tell you about.  And, they want to give TEN lucky Gimmie fans vouchers so they can get free Chef’s Requested products too!!  You can choose from classic filet mignon, the filet of beef, or bacon wrapped chicken.

As you can imagine, I had a team of experts volunteer to review our Chef’s Requested steaks.  The overall consensus was “silence” while they ate.  As as my grandma would have said, “it must be good, nobody’s talking!” The steak was frozen solid when we started, but thawed quickly – faster than you’d think for a thick cut of meat.  That’s good though, because who has time to wait for steak to thaw?  We prepared it on a George Foreman grill which took about 9 minutes to cook to “medium.” So, with Chef’s Requested you could have a fantastic steak dinner on the table in about 15 minutes.

The overall flavor was outstanding.  We didn’t add any seasoning or do anything to it.  According to the package it’s seasoned with 20% of a lightly seasoned solution.  It’s magic!  And the steaks we chose were wrapped in bacon, which added a lot to the flavor.  It wasn’t overpowering, but really unique and tasty.  My husband normally makes steak at our house, and he’s sort of a legend for it.  But, it’s an ordeal involving lots of seasoning and prep time.  It was nice to have a gourmet meal that was quick and easy.

Filet Mignon at a fancy steak house would cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $45-50 per meal.  Even with your Restaurant.com gift certificate, it’s still not cheap!    I know because my husband and I treated ourselves to a very nice steak dinner a few months ago, and the bill was outrageously painful.  The steak was wonderful, but I’m not sure I could tell the difference between it and a Chef’s Requested steak in a blind taste test.  And I much prefer Chef’s Requested’s low price!!
